In the early 60's Rie was invited by the Bureau of Indian Affairs to go to Nunivak Island in the Bering Sea to sketch this painting of the annual reindeer roundup.

Description
On the Yukon was sketched on a 13-day voyage down the Yukon River in the summer of 1989. Our freighter stopped at numerous villages and fish camps. The result was hundreds of sketches of Yukon River lifestyle. This is one of the first paintings I did upon my return home.
