Salmon Roe For Japan
Size: 6 3/4 x 8 1/2
Price: CALL
Issue Year: 1999
Print #: FI

Description

<The people in Japan highly value Alaska's wild salmon roe for caviar, as do many Alaskans.  When they catch their own salmon the two large sacks of eggs in the female are carefully removed and soaked in a brine.  Unlike the Russian caviar which is black, the salmon caviar is bright orange...and tastes wonderful! --RM

Price: CALL
Issue Year: 1989
Print #: 263

Description

I made a voyage on the M/V Tustumena, the only one of the Alaska state ferries to travel to the Aleutian Islands.  Several bird watchers were aboard and I took note of all the birds they saw, resulting in this print. --RM

Seabirds, St. George
Size: 12 5/8 x 15
Price: CALL
Issue Year: 1997
Print #: F34

Description

A great favorite of bird watchers is the Pribilof Island rookeries in Alaska's Bering Sea.  Birds return annually to the great cliffs of the Islands to breed and rear their young safe from predators.  An ornithologist would frown on my interpretation of the Tufted Puffin, Common Murre, Glaucous Winged Gull, Red Faced Cormorant, Marbled Murrelet, & the two Kittiwakes; but, that's what they are. --RM      LAST AVAILABLE!!

Seal hunting is an ancient Eskimo tradition.  The best hunting is in the winter when the sea is frozen and one can venture out on foot.--RM
