Description
<strong>"Tar Paper Shack"</strong>...Minimal cabins like this one can be seen scattered over Coastal Alaska. They are commercial or subsistence seasonal set-net fishing sites occupied only during the time of a particular salmon run. At the close of the season the family goes home again till next summer. A great many of these sites can only be reached by 4-wheelers or pick-up trucks riding on the beach at low tide. --RM <strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">LAST AVAILABLE !!</strong> Last-0f-edition #750/750Tenakee Brand Salmon

X-Low Inventory! That's me up in the sky. I had broken my arm in Tenakee walking down some metal steps in the rain with my hands in my pockets, looking left and right at scenes I might want to paint. Down I went. There was such an incredible storm that day that no commercial planes were flying, but the Coast Guard sent a helicopter and transported me to Sitka. As we left, I looked out the window at the people waving down below, and already envisioning a painting! --RMTenakee Wedding

This painting was done of Rie's son and wife at their outdoor wedding in Tenakee. (We were privileged to attend the wedding and the wonderful wedding feast on the beach afterwards.) We will always remember that special week-end in Tenakee! <strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">LAST AVAILABLE!!</strong>Testing a Sealskin Float

In Shishmaref, I watched this woman testing a float for leaks. She submerged the float in water to see where the bubbles up, exactly like testing an innertube. Her float was made from a common seal, but I transformed it into a ribbon seal to make the painting more interesting. --RM <strong>LAST AVAILABLE!</strong>The Good Book

I was sketching this Russian Orthodox Church one beautiful warm spring day when the priest appeared. He was leisurely strolling around the church reading a book. I had no idea which book it was but assumed it must be the Bible; hence the title. --RMThroat Chanters - Silkscreen

<strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">LAST AVAILABLE!!</strong> Original serigraph from 1986. X-Rare! I heard the Throat Chanters at a circumpolar conference attended by Eskimos from Greenland, the USSR, Canada, and Alaska. The women, from a remote village in Canada, stood with their mouths only inches apart, chanting. The sounds reverberated off each other's vocal chords, creating a strange echo or hollow sound, not unlike chanting through a long metal pipe. I represented their extroadinary music with shapes and colors. --RMTo The Hot Springs
